QUINCY — Easton B. Glaves, 21, of Quincy, was sentenced Thursday to the Illinois Department of Corrections for 10 years for possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, a Class 1 felony.

Glaves appeared in Adams County Circuit Court with attorney Drew Schnack before Judge Holly Henze. Dismissed as part of plea negotiations was a Class X felony charge of delivery meth (less than 100 grams), a Class 1 felony charge of possession of meth (less than 100 grams), a Class 4 felony of possession of a controlled substance and a Class A misdemeanor of unlawful possession of cannabis by the driver of a vehicle.

Members of the Quincy Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit made a traffic stop on Nov. 22, 2024, of a vehicle being driven by Glaves when they learned that Glaves’ registration was expired.  During the traffic stop, probable cause was determined for a search of the vehicle. That search resulted in finding 21.6 grams of Psilocybin mushrooms, 26.16 grams of cannabis and 55.9 grams of methamphetamine.

Glaves was given credit for 117 days previously served in the Adams County Jail. His time in prison will be served at the rate of 50 percent under Illinois’ truth in sentencing law. He was convicted in 2022 for the Class 2 felony of delivery of possession of methamphetamine and served three years in prison.

Adams County State’s Attorney Todd R. Eyler commended the daily work of the Quincy Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit for their concentrated enforcement of drug activity in the City of Quincy.

“Without this specialized unit, many individuals involved in drug activity in the City of Quincy would go unnoticed and would continue to flood our streets with illegal drugs,” Eyler said in a press release.
