Quincy Museum to hold Folk Life Festival on Saturday

QUINCY — The Quincy Museum will hold its annual Folk Life Festival from noon-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at 1601 Maine. Admission to the grounds and the museum is free.

The festival will offer a variety of vendors and demonstrators. Crafters and demonstrators will share a variety of old-time crafts and activities. Visitors can enjoy watching woodcarvers create birds, potters at their wheel, needle workers, chair caning and tatting.Hhomemade soaps, essential oils, American Girl doll clothes, jewelry, stained glass, quilts, fall plants and many other craft items will be sold.

Activities for children will include a bounce house, face painting, crafts and games on the lawn. The Quincy Fire Department and the Quincy Police Department will present programs, and Chuck DeVerger will have a live reptile demonstration.

Food items available for purchase will be:

  • old-fashioned bottled soda
  • caramel apples
  • baked goods
  • bratwurst
  • hot dogs and
  • the always popular buffalo barbeque sandwiches.

Visitors will have the opportunity to buy pumpkins, mums and other harvest produce to old-fashioned wooden toys and games.
