Quincy Police Department investigating shooting incident near Ninth and Hampshire Sunday morning

QUINCY — The Quincy Police Department is searching for information about a shooting that took place near Ninth and Hampshire early Sunday morning.

The Quincy Police Department and Adams County EMS received a call at 3:17 a.m. Sunday, May 19 in reference to a subject being shot. The initial caller gave a location for the shooting, and officers were dispatched to that location. 

At 3:20 a.m., a second 911 call was received, giving the correct location of the shooting as the area of Ninth and Hampshire. Officers then responded to that location and found a male victim with a gunshot wound.  Officers provided first aid until the scene was secure and EMS crews could safely approach, which occurred at 3:24 a.m.  The victim was transported to Blessing Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

QPD Investigations Division detectives and crime scene personnel were called in to assist with the investigation.  The Adams County Sheriff’s Department also assisted with the initial response.

The investigation is ongoing.  Preliminary information seems to indicate this was not a random shooting.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the Quincy Police Department at 217-228-4470, submit information through the Quincy Police Department website at  https://www.quincypolicedepartment.com/contact/ or provide a tip through Quincy Regional Crime Stoppers.
