QUINCY — Quincy Police started executing a search warrant Wednesday morning at 1641 Hampshire, the home of the estranged husband of a Quincy woman who was killed last week.

Quincy Police Department officers began their search Wednesday morning of the house at 1641 Hampshire, where Tim Bliefnick lives.

Police Chief Adam Yates confirmed the search of a home at 1641 Hampshire and a car outside the home. Muddy River News has learned the home was rented by and the car belonged to Tim Bliefnick, the estranged husband of Rebecca Bliefnick, who was found dead on Feb. 23 in her home at 2508 Kentucky Road. Police reported she had been shot multiple times. Police are treating the case as a homicide.

Police stopped Bliefnick at the intersection of 20th and Hampshire around 8 a.m. Wednesday.

Adam Yates, chief of the Quincy Police Department, said in a prepared statement no arrests have been made related to this investigation. He added that the Quincy Police Department has not submitted for an arrest warrant through the Adams County State’s Attorney’s office.

Bliefnick was cooperative with police when stopped. He stepped out of the car and was involved in conversations with multiple officers. He provided them the keys to his house as well as his car.

Bliefnick was not arrested. He was taken by police to a family member’s home before officers began the search. Once officers had the keys, they went into the home and began the search.

Bliefnick’s attorney, Casey Schnack, issued a statement on her client’s behalf Wednesday morning.

“Given the circumstances, it is not surprising that the search warrant was issued and executed,” Schnack said. “My only surprise is that it took this long to do. It is just as important that QPD conduct such as investigation to rule Tim OUT as a suspect so that investigative efforts can be spent elsewhere.”

Court records show Rebecca and Tim Bliefnick have been in the process of getting a divorce since February 2021.

“The information learned and evidence gathered over the last six days has led us to this point in
our investigation,” Yates said in a statement emailed to local media Wednesday morning. “During a criminal investigation, it is not unusual to obtain and serve numerous search warrants for a variety of reasons. Search warrants are a normal part of the investigative process. Our detectives will allow the information and evidence to guide them as they continue to investigate.”

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office and Adams County Ambulance Service assisted with the
service of the search warrant.

Yates said additional information will be released “when it is appropriate to do so. It is important to remember all individuals are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.”
