With a discussion regarding masks in school for the 2021-2022 school year expected to take place, Quincy Superintendent of School Roy Webb says the July Quincy School District 172 Board of Education meeting set for July 21 has been moved.

The School Board usually meets in a conference room at 1416 Maine that comfortably seats about 30 people plus the School Board and other administrators. Next week’s meeting will be in the Quincy High School cafeteria, 3322 Maine.

Several Quincy residents have been stating their preference for a mask-optional school year. Many of them members have been discussing the topic on Social Media and some area districts, such as Warsaw and Camp Point Central have moved to mask-optional following new guidelines from the Center for Disease Control that will be adopted by The Illinois Department of Public Health.

The Quincy group has even purchased yard signs and are discussing ads on the sides of semi-trailers.
