QUINCY – Matthew Bates, associate professor of theology and award-winning author at Quincy University, recently penned a book titled “The Gospel Precisely: Surprisingly Good News about Jesus Christ the King.” It is a guidebook on defining, sharing and obeying the gospel.

“This book is for any reader, but especially churches and small-group studies,” Bates said. “It tries to capture the heart of what matters most to Christians everywhere — the good news of Jesus’ saving kingship — and why the gospel continues to rescue and transform.”

The Gospel Precisely was published by RENEW.org and is available at https://www.amazon.com/dp/1949921662/. For discounted group orders, email info@renew.org. More information is available at www.MatthewWBates.com. The book includes resources for personal reflection and group discussion.

Bates’s main teaching area is the Bible and early Christian literature, especially the New Testament. He also teaches courses in western religion, church history and Christian spirituality. He is the author of five books and co-founder and co-host of the popular podcast, OnScript.
