Quincy will see road closures, detours and lane reductions Saturday for Bridge the Gap race

BRIDGE THE GAP 2021 ROAD CLOSURES AND EMERGENCY ALERTS

QUINCY, IL – On Saturday, May 15, 2021, Quincy Medical Group (QMG) will host the 21st annual Bridge the Gap to Health Race. Safety is a top priority for the event. To ensure the safety of participants, spectators, and volunteers the following streets will be closed or reduced to one lane.

Streets to be closed from 5 a.m. to noon

  •   Front Street from Jersey to Broadway
  •   Bonansinga from Cedar to Broadway
  •   2nd Street from Jersey to Spring
  •   Broadway from 3rd to Bonansinga
  •   Vermont from 3rd to Front Street
  •   Hampshire from 3rd to Front Street
  •   3rd Street from Broadway to Maine
  •   4th Street from Jersey to Hampshire
  •   Maine Street from 4th Street to 24th Street
  •   5th Street from Maine to Hampshire Street
  •   Hampshire Street from 5th Street to 3rd StreetDetours due to 3rd and 4th Street closures 6 a.m. until 10 a.m.

 Highway 24 traffic coming from Memorial Bridge 

o South on 3rd street

o East on State Street
o North on 24th Street/Highway 96 o West on Broadway/IL 104
o North onto Highway 24

  •   IL 57 traffic coming north into Quincy or to access north side of course o East on State Streeto North on 24th Street/Highway 96 o West on Broadway/IL 104
    o North onto Highway 24

  •   Traffic to access Gardner Expressway/ IL 57 or south side of course

o West onto Bayview bridge
o Turn around at 2nd highway median crossover o East onto Memorial bridge
o South onto Gardner Expressway

Streets to be closed from 6 a.m. to noon

  •   West lanes of 2nd Street from Spring street to Cherry street
  •   Cedar Street from 3rd street to Bonansinga Drive
  •   Bonansinga Drive from Cedar to Kochs Lane

Bridge the Gap emergency text alerts are also in place if needed. To subscribe to these alerts, text bridgethegap to 888777. In the case of inclement weather, Bridge the Gap to Health Committee members will work closely with the Adams County Emergency Management Agency to determine the best option for participant and volunteer safety.
