Quincy woman charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon after Tuesday incident near Third and Elm
QUINCY — A Quincy woman was arrested Tuesday and lodged in the Adams County Jail for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon after a Tuesday morning incident.
Officers with the Quincy Police Department were sent to the 300 block of Elm at approximately 6:49 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, to investigate an attempted break-in and shooting incident. The investigation revealed that an area homeowner observed one female and three masked men, wearing dark clothing and backpacks, standing in his backyard. The homeowner said he followed the three males onto Elm. Once on Elm, one of the males fired several shots from a firearm into the air.
When officers arrived at the scene, they secured the area and located Caitlin Dietiker, 25, of the 2300 block of State in Quincy. Officers found Dietiker had a weapon other than a firearm which she was prohibited from possessing, but she was not the person who fired the shots from a firearm. Dietiker was arrested and taken to jail. She also has been charged with reckless discharge of a firearm and criminal trespass to real property.
A press release from the Quincy Police Department said the investigation is ongoing to locate the other suspects. Anyone with information about this investigation is asked to call the Quincy Police Department at 217-228-4470 or submit a tip through Quincy Regional Crime Stoppers.
