QUINCY — A Quincy woman who was involved in a March shooting on Quincy’s north side was sentenced to six years in the Illinois Department of Corrections on Monday.

Chaunessi Cano, 21, was sentenced on one count of attempted aggravated discharge of a firearm. She had two lesser charges, aggravated discharge of a firearm and possession of a firearm by a felon, dropped as part of a plea deal.

Cano, 21, was arrested March 8 after the Quincy Police Department responded to 1111 Lind on March 8 after receiving reports of shots fired. Police found shell casings and witnesses gave details of a vehicle being at the residence during the disturbance.

Cano and a juvenile male were arrested at 619 Harrison following a search where a firearm was found.

Cano previously was arrested in January after another incident near 8th and State streets where a man was shot. She pled guilty to mob action while an aggravated battery charge was dropped and received probation along with credit for time served.
