QUINCY — Lacee J. Blevins, 41, formerly of Quincy, was sentenced by Circuit Judge Tad Brenner on Wednesday, April 2, to 10 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

Blevins agreed to a negotiated sentence of up to 11 years for the offense of possession with Intent to deliver methamphetamine, a Class 1 felony.

Officers assigned to the special investigation unit of the Quincy Police Department were dispatched on July 30, 2024, to 1220½ N. Fifth in Quincy to a report that people with outstanding warrants were at that address. Upon receiving consent to search the residence, two people with active and valid outstanding warrants for their arrest were found.  Blevins was one of those people.

A further search of the residence resulted in finding three capped syringes, a scale and one large bag containing multiple individual bags containing a total of 38.77 grams of methamphetamine and 44.96 grams of raw cannabis. Blevins had multiple prior drug convictions, and she had graduated from the Adams County Drug Court program in 2016.

“This is an unfortunate reminder of the power and evil that illegal substances such as methamphetamine have over people,” Adams County State’s Attorney Todd Eyler said in a press release. “Despite successes such as graduating Drug Court, the struggle of a drug addiction is daily, and one must be vigilant in fighting that battle.  Not only do the inflicted need strength and determination, but they need ongoing and unconditional support from every friend and family member to be successful in their struggle.”
