QUINCY — The John Wood Community College Workforce Development Center Business & Industry Training will be hosting a free seminar from Winsor Consulting about cybersecurity from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Paul Heath Community Education and Fine Arts Center, 1301 S. 48th

Common security areas that most manufacturing facilities are lacking, discovered through gap analyses at 30 manufacturers in Illinois, will be discussed.

Did you know 95 percent of cybersecurity breaches are caused by human error?  Your company is responsible for educating employees to identify and appropriately respond to attempted breaches, but many companies lack security policies and training to do that.  This seminar will inform your team on best practices for maintaining physical security and cybersecurity at work.

Session 1, “Cybersecurity Gaps in Manufacturing,” is from 9:30-11 a.m.  Learn about top cybersecurity gaps as discovered at Illinois manufacturers, and how to improve protections at your company to become more secure.

Session 2, “Increase Employee Cybersecurity Awareness,” is from 11 a.m. to noon. This session will outline the top threats to a company because of human error and how to decrease vulnerability. It will help people understand their role in protecting company data, including employee data.

Session 3. “Personal Cybersecurity,” is from 1-2 p.m. The focus will be on personal cybersecurity, highlighting how people can protect their personal information and security. Learn how to identify steps to reduce vulnerabilities in their home and electronics.

To register, visit www.jwcc.edu/wdc-cybersecurity. Participants will be required to wear face coverings. Social distancing will be maintained. For more information, contact JWCC at 217-641-4971 or wdc@jwcc.edu.
