Sheriff’s office says be on the watch for bond scammers

Adams-County-Sheriffs-Department

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office is asking people to be aware of someone trying to pass themselves off as a member of the department and demanding bond money.

Sheriff Tony Grootens said a man was representing himself as a law enforcement officer and seeking bond money for outstanding arrest warrants.

Grootens said the Sheriff’s Office doesn’t contact people by phone for the purpose of collecting bond. The caller seeking the money is also asking to be paid by a QR code linked to a Bitcoin machine. Grootens said Adams County doesn’t seek or accept payments in that manner for any service it provides.

Contract the Sheriff’s Office directly if you have any questions or concerns about how bond payments should be made.
