More than 100 people gathered in Quincy’s Washington Park Sunday afternoon for a reproductive rights rally organized by a coalition of people in northeast Missouri and west-central Illinois.

Signs made by those in attendance conveyed their unified concern and outrage that reproductive and personal health care decisions are now being legislated by the government, instead of by women and their doctors’ medical counsel. The rallies featured speakers, singing and an opportunity to register to vote.

A similar rally was held Saturday afternoon in Central Park in Hannibal, Mo. More than 50 people attended, joining the nationwide protests against the recent Supreme Court’s ruling restricting reproductive freedom.

Lisa Wigoda was in attendance for both events and provided a gallery of photos for Muddy River News.
