Smoking on the front porch starts fire at home on Adams Street

QUINCY — Quincy Firefighters responded to small structure fire on the front porch of a one story residential house on Tuesday night.

At 9:17 P.M. the Quincy Fire Department received the call of a fire at 827 Adams Street. The first fire crew arrived on scene at 9:19 P.M. and found a small fire on the front porch.

The first crew deployed a hose line and extinguished the fire priorto any other fire crews arriving on scene. Incident Commander arrived on scene and canceled the other two fire engines as the fire was contained to the wooden front porch and did not spread to the house.

Quincy Police also responded to the scene and the Adams County Ambulance was canceled before they could arrive.

The fire was accidental and cause by smoking on the front porch and crews left the scene at 9:37 P.M.

QFD would like to remind you to extinguish cigarettes completely after use and discard ashes and cigarettes into a metal container.
