Suspect in Quincy kidnapping arrested in Arkansas
On Tuesday, at approximately 5:45 PM, Quincy Police detectives were notified that a stolen vehicle from Quincy that was used in the kidnapping in July had been located in Marshall County, Kentucky. The vehicle was believed to be driven by Mario A. Mason, 40, of Turrell, Arkansas.
Mason was wanted in connection to the July kidnapping and had been sought since the victim had been able to escape in Marked Tree, Arkansas. Mason allegedly drove the vehicle and fled from Marshall County Sheriff’s deputies and Benton police, then taken them on a vehicle pursuit in rural Marshall County. The driver parked the vehicle in a subdivision and fled on foot into a wooded area.
Marshall County Sheriffs Office, Benton police, Marshall County Fire Rescue Squad, Calloway County Fire, Ledbetter Fire, Kentucky State Police, Marshall County Constable 2, and Marshall County EMS all began an extensive search using drones, police canines, ATV’s, and UTV’s of the wooded area and were able to locate Mason and he was taken into custody at around 10:30 PM Tuesday.
Mason is facing numerous charges in Kentucky but will eventually be brought back to Adams County on the outstanding Kidnapping warrant which has a $300,000 bond as well as more possible charges as it relates to the Adams County cases.
Mason is the suspect in the July kidnapping of Tabitha Campbell of Quincy. Mason is also wanted out of Arkansas as well.
