Tears…hugs…and relief following Bliefnick guilty verdict
QUINCY — Courtroom 2A in the Adams County Courthouse was a mixture of gasps, shrieks and tears as three guilty verdicts were read in the first degree murder trial of Tim Bliefnick late Wednesday afternoon.
Becky Bliefnick was shot by her estranged husband on February 23. Her parents, sister and other family members filled two rows of the courtroom, with Becky’s mother, Bernie Postle, burying her face in her hands as she was held by her husband, Bill.
While holding Bernie, Bill Postle looked ahead and nodded, taking a sideways glance at his son-in-law 98 days after he found his daughter shot to death on her bathroom floor, now knowing the man he gave his daughter to in marriage 14 years ago had ended her life.
Becky’s sister, Sarah Reilly, fought back tears with her husband, Brett, beside her as she read a statement on behalf of the family.
“We should not have to suffer a life without Becky,” she said. “She was robbed of her life in the most cowardly and cruel way.
“The judicial process cannot bring her back or heal our wounds, but we are relieved that the verdict delivers justice.”
