Three engines called to Sunday fire in single-family residence at 607 N. Eighth

QUINCY — Three Quincy Fire Department engines were called to a structure fire in a single-family residence at 607 N. Eighth at 4:27 p.m. Sunday.

Engine Companies No. 2, No. 4 and No. 6 and the Incident Commander responded. Upon arrival, firefighters found a large amount of smoke coming from the second floor and attic area.

Crews initiated an interior attack. Engine Company No. 2 pulled an attack line and took it in the front door and upstairs to the rear of the home, where they encountered heavy fire and smoke. The room was quickly extinguished, and crews searched for further fire extension into the attic area. 

Engine Company No. 4 set up the fan for ventilation, then made entry to assist with fire attack and search. Engine Company No. 6 established water supply and took over RIT duties.

The home suffered fire damage to one room and light smoke damage throughout.

QFD Cause and Origin investigators are investigating the scene.
