Tri-Township Fire Department dedicates ladder truck

QUINCY — The Tri-Township Fire Department (TTFD) officially dedicated its Tri-Township Ladder #1 in honor of its first Fire Chief, Edward Hagerbaumer.

In June 1957, Hagerbaumer was appointed as TTFD’s first chief, a move that was significant to the growth of the department and established a precedent for future firefighters to follow.

“With respect to such a legacy, it only seemed fitting to dedicate Tri-Township’s first Ladder Truck in his honor,” TTFD officials said in a statement.  “Through his example, we continue to serve this community with dedication, courage, sacrifice and tradition.

“We feel that an important part of being a Tri-Township Firefighter is to honor the traditions of our service, and all of those who came before us and recognize one of our first firefighters with the dedication of this ladder truck in his honor.”

TTFD’s “Ladder 1” is the first ladder truck in the Department’s history.  Wednesday’s Dedication Ceremony was attended by past and present members of the department, as well as friends and family of Chief Hagerbaumer.
