Tuesday fire in Hannibal that killed pet ruled as electrical and accidental
HANNIBAL, Mo. — The cause of a Tuesday afternoon fire in Hannibal has been ruled as electrical and determined to be accidental.
The Hannibal Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 1904 Broadway at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday. Upon arrival at the scene, firefighters reported flames and smoke coming from a second-story window. All occupants were out of the structure at the time of the fire, but two pets were still inside.
Firefighters made an offensive attack, and the fire was extinguished within 15 minutes. One pet died because of its injuries.
The Hannibal Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Hannibal Police Department, Marion County Ambulance, the building inspector office, Board of Public Works and the Red Cross.
