Two arrested following series of alleged thefts and frauds

QUINCY — A traffic stop in Quincy Friday afternoon led to the arrest of two people suspected in a string of thefts and fraudulent transactions at local banks in the area.

Adams County deputies were following a vehicle that had been identified as being involved in the crimes and made the stop at 41st and Broadway at around 1:15 p.m. Laura Fowler, 37, of Quincy, was the driver. and the passenger was Jeffrey Horton, 33, of Moline.

Fowler was charged with fraud, theft and forgery. Horton faces charges of theft, fraud and forgery as well as unlawful transportation of cannabis and unlawful transportation of alcohol.

Both are being held in the Adams County Jail without bond and face court appearances on Monday.
