Two hospitalized after car crashes from behind into horse-drawn buggy near Liberty
BEVERLY, Ill. — Two people in a horse-drawn buggy were sent to Blessing Hospital Thursday morning after they were injured in a crash in southeast Adams County.
A press release from the Adams County Sheriff’s Department said two vehicles were northbound on E. 2600th Street, south of N. 250th Avenue, at 8:39 a.m. Thursday. A juvenile male driving a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix failed to reduce speed and struck the rear of the horse-drawn buggy, driven by Philip Schrock, 33, of Liberty.
Schrock and two juvenile females were ejected from the buggy. Schrock and a 2-year-old girl were injured and transported to Blessing Hospital.
The juvenile was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. The Liberty Fire Department, the Payson Fire Department and the Adams County Ambulance assisted.
