Two juveniles arrested for firearm possession as part of investigation into vehicle thefts, burglaries

QUINCY — Two juveniles were arrested Thursday morning in connection with the Quincy Police Department’s and Adams County Sheriff’s Department’s investigation into a recent slew of vehicle thefts and burglaries.

Officers with the Quincy Police Department and deputies with the Adams County Sheriff’s Department tried to find a wanted juvenile in the 1100 block of Ohio at approximately 11:01 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 3. Based on information developed by QPD investigators, the wanted suspect was believed to be inside a residence and in possession of firearms. 

Law enforcement officials surrounded the house and called the suspect out. The juvenile exited the residence and was taken into custody without incident for his Adams County warrants as well as an Illinois Department of Corrections juvenile parole violation warrant. A second juvenile also exited the house and was initially detained. 

Officers received consent from the homeowner to search the residence for firearms and found two loaded 9mm handguns. Both juveniles were lodged in the Adams County Juvenile Detention Facility for unlawful possession of a firearm.
