Two women injured after vehicle crashes into utility pole near 12th and Melview Road Thursday night

QUINCY — Two women were taken to Blessing Hospital with minor injuries after a vehicle crashed into a utility pole Thursday night.

Deputies with the Adams County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to a single-vehicle crash on South 12th Street, south of Melview Road.

Rilya M. Kirby-Roberts, 18, of Quincy was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox southbound on 12th Street when she lost control of the vehicle, which left the west side of the road and struck a utility pole and a fence. Kirby-Roberts and a 17-year-old female passenger were taken to Blessing Hospital.

South 12th Street was shut down for approximately one hour because the utility pole was knocked down. 

Kirby-Roberts was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash.

Tri-Township Fire Department and Adams County EMS provided assistance.
