QUINCY — In accordance with the United Way Mission of mobilizing the caring power of communities for the common good, United Way Worldwide — the parent organization of United Way of Adams County — is launching the “United for Ukraine Fund” in response to the urgent and growing humanitarian crisis.

More than one million people have fled Ukraine, a number expected to rise to four million before the conflict is over. United Way Worldwide is supporting people displaced by the violence, providing life- saving relief. By donating to this fund, donors are eligible to receive local tax receipts directly from their local partner in accordance with local tax law. Donors will receive a U.S. tax receipt. United Way Worldwide cannot provide tax receipts for non-U.S. donations.

Trusted partners on the ground (United Way Romania, United Way Hungary and the Good Initiatives Foundation in Poland) stand ready to aid people displaced by this crisis. They are working with local partners to determine the needs on the ground and to address the immediate and longer-term relief needed for those made vulnerable by the fighting.

The immediate support will cover:

  • Transportation
  • Shelter
  • Food and medicine
  • Critical childcare supplies, including infant formula and diapers
  • Hygiene kits

By donating to United Way, you’re supporting vetted, nonpartisan organizations on the ground and providing vital help to those who need it most. As the crisis evolves, United Way may identify additional partners on the ground to support the needs of Ukraine’s displaced.

Those interested in supporting relief efforts may go online to www.unitedwayadamsco.org and click on the “United For Ukraine Relief Fund” button on the top right of the page to make a safe and secure donation to assist the ongoing humanitarian efforts in Ukraine.
