HANNIBAL, Mo. — A vacant apartment building at 214 S. Sixth will be demolished on Tuesday by the City of Hannibal after a portion of the back part of the building collapsed Tuesday morning.

The Hannibal Fire Department was on the scene at 12:30 p.m. investigating the collapse.

Hannibal Fire Chief Ryan Neisen said he had no reason to believe anyone was in the home. He also said the building was already condemned and has been on the city’s demolition list for several years.

Neisen said the building would come down sometime on Tuesday as soon as equipment becomes available.
