DAILY DIRT: The OLDNSLO license plate spotted by a reader says it reminds her of me

Daily Dirt for Thursday, March 13, 2025
Rather harsh, I think … Welcome to today’s three thoughts that make up Vol. 1,227 of The Daily Dirt.
1. The weather’s getting warmer, and those personal license plates seem to be getting more plentiful.
We have a new gold medal recipient this week. OLDNSLO now tops the Great Plate Debate IV standings. This was spotted by one of our loyal pen pals, Ella Cain, who also sent us a picture. “This reminds me of you,” she included with her picture. Thanks, Ella. Thanks a lot.
AHHHH is the new silver medalist, with incumbent BLAH hanging on in the bronze-medal position.
The current standings:

2. Did you know (Part 301)
- That more than 40 buildings in New York City are so large they have their own zip code.
- That Haiti is the only country that recognizes voodoo as a religion.
- That the Greek national anthem contains 158 verses.
- That Chile was the last country in the Western Hemisphere to legalize divorce — in 2004.
- That Japan is technically made up of 6,852 islands.
3. This week’s top celebrity birthdays:
Actor Billy Crystal turns 78 today. For as long as he lives, he’ll be known as Harry in “When Harry Met Sally … “
Mike Love of the Beach Boys will be 84 on Saturday. He’s been with the band since its 1961 inception. If still alive at that time, he’ll be at the Adams County Fairgrounds in September to help celebrate the county’s bicentennial.
Actor Kurt Russell celebrates No. 74 on Monday. He and Goldie Hawn have been together since 1983.
Actor Rob Lowe turns 61, also on Monday. His best film? How about “The Outsiders” (1983), “St. Elmo’s Fire” (1985) or “About Last Night” (1986)?
Singer/actress Queen Latifah turns 55 on Tuesday. Her actual name is Dana Elaine Owens.
Steve Thought O’ The Day — Speaking of the Beach Boys, my favorite among the group’s long list of hits has always been “Wild Honey” from 1967. It was the group’s first foray into the “soul” sound.

Steve Eighinger writes daily for Muddy River News. He’s welcome for the gratuitous Meg Ryan moment.
