Daily Dirt for Monday, Aug. 8, 2022

That many people — 59 percent — can’t be wrong, right? … Welcome to today’s three thoughts that make up Vol. 363 of The Daily Dirt.

1. The most unpopular day of the week?

Well, to no one’s surprise it is Monday, according to the yougov.com website. Its research indicates that:

59 percent of 4,000 polled chose Monday.

13 percent selected Tuesday.

No other day registered higher than 6 percent.

Here are the best quotes related to another manic Monday:

Gold medal: “Monday is great if I can spend it in bed. I’m a man of simple pleasures, really.”– actor Arthur Darvill.

Silver medal: “There are no miracles on Mondays.”  — author Amy Neftzeger.

Bronze medal: “Candy is nature’s way of making up for Mondays.” — author Rebecca Gober.

2. Another week, another round of license plates spotted in West-Central Illinois and Northeast Missouri as the Great Plate Debate continues:

The best we saw this week over the past week:

— JAM: … up and jelly tight. (Sorry, it’s a reference to an old Tommy Roe song.)

— BAUER 1: I’m pretty sure I know the owner of this one happens to be.

— MIXER: Not sure if this might be a name or a title.

— X G X: Have no clue whatsoever, but it’s a great looking plate.

— TURTLZ: Anyone else remember the Turtles? You know, “Happy Together,” “Elenore,” “It Ain’t Me Babe,” “She’d Rather Be With Me” and “You Baby.”

The award winners for the year remain:

Gold medal: LUV YADI. (No. 1 for six months)

Silver Medal: GOL D LOX.

Bronze medal: PHUNKY 1.

3. And speaking of best of the week, here’s the finest of Found on Facebook:

— “Sometimes you just have to sit in the car and let the song finish.”

— “If a bag is not resealable, then it contains one serving. I don’t make the rules.”

— “Not every man can post this, but I can: My wife has a great husband.”

— “I’m adopting a healthier lifestyle, so I parked and walked inside to buy doughnuts instead of using the drive-through.”

— “Btw, you still owe Columbia House for those 30 cassettes you got in 1985 for 1 cent.”

Steve Thought O’ The Day — I used to absolutely love that Columbia House deal!

Steve Eighinger writes daily for Muddy River News. He probably still uses an 8-track.
