DAILY DIRT: Keith Richards may be 80, but he’s still going strong … especially his bank account
Welcome to today’s three thoughts that make up Vol. 971 of The Daily Dirt.
1. Keith Richards, the 80-year-old (and still going strong) Rolling Stones guitar player, has accumulated quite a few interesting treasures during his eventful career with the world’s No. 1 rock and roll band.
Richards, who has been with the Stones since 1962 and is worth an estimated $500 million, ranks among the 10 wealthiest rockers of all time. Richards has used some of his extraordinary wealth to acquire some rather choice items, including:
- What is believed to be an unrivaled guitar collection worth millions. Richards has about 300 guitars in his collection that is made up of all sorts of different makes and models. His most valuable piece is a 1959 Les Paul model that dates to the Rolling Stones’ inaugural concert. The guitar fetched $1 million at a 2003 auction.
- He also owns a mansion in France that dates to 1899. The last time the estate was sold was in 2005 for $110 million. It is filled with all sorts of classic furniture and other artifacts.
- Richard also likes to utilize his superyacht named Bennetti Sovereign, measuring 177 feet in length and containing five luxurious cabins and other breathtaking amenities.

- Singer Tom Jones turns 84 today. Why, why, why … Delilah?
- Actor Liam Neeson is celebrating birthday No. 72, also today. One of the finest actors of this or any other generation.
- Singer Nancy “These Boots Are Made For Walking” Sinatra will be 84 on Saturday. And one of these days these boots are gonna walk over you …
- Sportscaster Dick Vitale turns 84 on Sunday. He’s the third of the first four celebs who is turning 84. He’s still No. 1 bay-beeee!
- Actor Johnny Depp will be 61, also on Sunday. Good ole Capt. Jack.
Steve Thought O’ The Day — One more birthday to remember. NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Montana turns 68 on Tuesday. Say it ain’t so, Joe!
