Daily Dirt: Polka with Steve!
Daily Dirt for Aug. 6, 2021: Oh, what might have been …We all have had dreams. And at one time I had mine, too. Find out what my dream once was in today’s Daily Dirt. This, my friends, is Vol. 29:
1. I once played the accordion, even getting to perform with legendary Myron Floren from the old “Lawrence Welk Show.” In second or third grade, I wanted to learn how to play the guitar. The Beatles were in the midst of becoming worldwide phenoms and I envisioned myself as the next Paul McCartney. My mom and dad thought it best I study the accordion. Just file this under what might have been …
2. Best frozen pizza? I’m kind of partial to Red Baron. Ample product atop a quality serving of tasty dough and cheese.
3. For all sports card collectors — and pro wrestling fans — the Upper Deck Co. has announced it is coming out with a set of All-Elite Wrestling trading cards. This could be huge. I’m definitely going to need cards for:
A. Chris Jericho.
B. Cody Rhodes.
C. Wardlow.
D. Orange Cassidy.
E. Lance Archer (Murderhawk).
F. Sting.
G. Young Bucks.
H. Kenny Omega.
I. Darby Allin.
J. MJF.
My son, Geoff, an avid sports memorabilia collector, is also quite a connoisseur of the squared circle and its inhabitants. He provided with me with the following thoughts on the AEW cards: “An Orange Cassidy rookie card would complete my existence,” said young Eighinger, who is the author of an ongoing online fictional saga entitled “Angry Bridge” (angrybridge.com).
You can also follow Geoff and his own daily thoughts on his Facebook page. Geoff feels AEW autographs and relic cards should be especially popular.
“If I could score a piece of Chris Jericho’s tights or a Sting autograph, I’d be ecstatic,” he said.
Geoff also predicts the return of C.M. Punk to the canvas. That, of course, would be a major coup for the fledgling AEW and its ongoing ratings battle with the WWE.
