DAILY DIRT: Way to go, CAMO JOE! Welcome to gold medal territory!

Daily Dirt for Thursday, Feb. 27, 2025
The Great Plate Debate IV has a new No. 1 … Welcome to today’s three thoughts that make up Vol. 1,215 of The Daily Dirt.
1. Welcome to the throne, CAMO JOE.
We have a new No. 1 in the Great Plate Debate IV rankings. CAMO JOE has knocked XQQQME out of the top spot it had held since the first week in January.
Is CAMO JOE a subliminal reference to “Joe Camel” the cartoon character used to pitch cigarettes back when tobacco companies were allowed to market to kids? No, they weren’t doing that, were they? 😉
The “Excuse Me” twins (see below) have slipped to the silver and bronze positions as the competition is about to enter the third month of season No. 4.
There were several strong entries that were medal worthy, but The Daily Dirt Board of Control does not hand out these medals lightly.
“You have to EARN a Great Plate Debate medal,” acknowledged Board of Control member Lyle R. “Ken” Oberkfell.
This week’s standings:
Gold medal: CAMO JOE
Silver medal: XQQQME
Bronze medal:XCUSEUS
Close, but no cigar:

2. Did you know (Part 289)
- That Arby’s has brought pack those triangular potato cakes to its menu — permanently! Woo hoo!!!
- That 85 percent of the world’s canned pumpkin is processed in one plant in Morton, Ill.
- That Louisiana has more alligators than people. More than 4 million gators are roaming the state.
- That Walmart released information about what people come to the store to stock up on in times of a pending disaster like a hurricane. The answer: Strawberry Pop-Tarts and beer.
- That the Mint Oreo Blizzard has returned to the Dairy Queen lineup.
3. Here are some of the top celebrity birthdays this week:
- Singer Michael Bolton turns 72 today. At one time, he had the absolute worst hair in show business.
- Famed auto racer Mario Andretti will be 85 on Friday. He’s the only driver to ever win the Formula One title, Indianapolis 500 and Daytona 500.
- Actor/director Ron Howard turns 71 on Saturday. He’ll always be “Opie” to me.
- Performer Justin Bieber will be 31, also on Saturday. Quick! Name one Justin Bieber song. (Yeah, I couldn’t either.)
- Singer Jon Bon Jovi turns 63 on Sunday. And he’s still livin’ on a prayer.
Steve Thought O’ The Day — You know what’s kind of cool about Jon Bon Jovi? He’s got gray hair and does not color it jet black like numerous other aging rock stars.

Steve Eighinger writes daily for Muddy River News. Ellen Duffy-Gough, the real boss at MRN, loves her some Jon Bon Jovi.
