Dear Fellow Union Member and Resident of Quincy Public School District,

We are honored to write to you on behalf of the QF union groups in Quincy Public School District. Our councils have enthusiastically decided to support the following candidates for school board: Shelley Arns, James Whitfield, Curtis H. Sethaler, and Latonya Brock.

Our schools in Quincy are facing several challenges that must be properly addressed to ensure we can provide our students the education they deserve. Students, teachers, and staff face increased aggression in schools, a lack of supports, high turnover rates, numerous unfilled staff vacancies, and students who are not working at grade level. If the current board members are not retained, we are worried that these priorities will fall to the side.

Electing Arns, Whitfield, Sethaler, and Brock is the only way to guarantee these issues are addressed and our students, teachers, and staff are supported.

We had the opportunity to interview these candidates about their positions and goals for our school district. Their platform and priorities align with the best interests of our students, staff, and community.

They want to continue building programs and supports that increase student achievement, address the teacher shortage, and work with the community to build strong connections. We have seen several of these candidates work with the union to secure the best compensation package we’ve seen in many years, and the candidates are often publicly supporting the district and all its employees.

Fellow Union members, we request your support and your vote in the upcoming School Board Election. Early voting has already started and runs through April 3!
