SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — State Rep. Kyle Moore recently was named to serve on the House Labor and Commerce Committee. Moore (R-Quincy) said the new committee assignment is on track with his goal of growing and retaining jobs in Illinois.

“This is first and foremost about improving our jobs climate so we can provide better opportunities for future generations right here in Illinois,” Moore said. “Illinois has the location, the resources and the workforce to be the number one destination for business start-ups and companies looking to expand or relocate. I’m pleased that our district will have a seat at the table as legislation is considered to help make that happen.”

The Labor and Commerce Committee focuses on issues concerning job and workforce development, labor guidelines, occupational licenses, and domestic and international commerce.

Moore has experience as a small business owner and president. In his former role as mayor of Quincyhe crafted the “45×30 Plan” to help modernize the city’s retail incentives. As president of the Great River Economic Development Foundation, Moore works with numerous companies on their expansion projects in Western Illinois. In his first year in the General Assembly, he has authored the Reducing Barriers to Start Act, which encourages the elimination of all first-year business fees relating to licensing or registration for new business start-ups, including home-based businesses.

House Minority Leader Tony McCombie appointed Moore to the Labor and Commerce Committee for his expertise at the local level.

“Our state faces many challenges, and we must do what we can to help boost our workforce, grow our economy and reduce the tax burden,” McCombie said. “I chose (Moore) because he will be an asset to this committee for the work he has done to stimulate economic growth in Quincy — and it’s about time we experience that type of growth statewide.”

“I am excited to put my experience in economic development to work on the Labor and Commerce Committee to promote better jobs and economic opportunity for everyone in our great state,” Moore said.
