Pritzker rolls over Bailey in re-election bid, Dems keep Illinois blue across the board
QUINCY — A Republican slate that generated very little enthusiasm statewide except for remote pockets in Illinois was washed away by a blue wave Tuesday night.
Governor JB Pritzker had more than 55 percent of the vote over Republican State Senator Darren Bailey, who called the governor to concede before 10 p.m.
All of the statewide offices had similar or larger margins for the Democrats as U.S. Sen. Tammy Duckworth, Comptroller Susana Mendoza, Attorney General Kwame Raoul and Treasurer Michael Frerichs all won re-election.
Alexi Giannoulias also kept the secretary of state’s office in Democratic hands as he defeated Republican State Rep. Dan Brady. Jesse White is retiring from the office after six terms.
