Arns, Quintero win tiebreaker 13-11 to claim City Mixed Doubles Tournament title
QUINCY — Ethan Arns and Theresa Quintero finally outlasted Heidi Holzgrafe and Zach Willing in the championship match, winning 6-3, 3-6 (13-11) to claim the open division during the Quincy City Mixed Doubles Tournament on Saturday. The Quincy Tennis Association was the host of the event.
Arns and Quintero reached the title match by defeating Jenny Hill and Jeff Zellerman 6-3, 6-2 in the quarterfinals, then defeating David LaFevers and Lexie Payne 6-3, 6-0 in the semifinals.
Holzgrafe and Willing, the top seed, defeated Keliegh Hall and Abbot Haner 6-2, 6-3 in the quarterfinals, then rallied from a set down to defeat Lia Quntero and Dave Santos 4-6, 6-3, 10-4.
Audra Cain and Allen Oakley won the consolation championship when the team of Andrew Catalpa and Katy Rindom retired with Cain and Oakley leading 6-4, 3-3.
Top-seeded Cindy Crist and Thatcher Crist won the 7.0 division, coming from behind to defeat Drew Koester and Kori Obert 0-6, 6-3, 10-1.
The Crisis reached the championship match by defeating Surya Reddy and Anika Reddy 6-4, 6-0 in the quarterfinals and Phoebe Hayes and Anderson Knapp 6-4, 6-3 in the semifinals.
Koester and Obert got to the title match by defeating Bob Catalpa and Pattie Paxton 6-1, 6-0 in the quarterfinals and May Kim and John Kost 6-3, 6-1 in the semifinals.
Ian Paxton and Paige Beckler won the consolation championship 6-4, 6-2 over Catalpa and Pattie Paxton, Ian’s mother.
