Gems fall to 2-6 with road loss at Clinton

CLINTON, Iowa — After scoring the game’s first run, the Quincy Gems gave up the next nine runs and suffered a 9-5 loss on Friday night to the Clinton LumberKings in a Prospect League game at NelsonCorp Field.
Alec Patino’s RBI single put Quincy on top in the first inning. Starter Brant Hogue allowed four runs in 3 ⅓ innings, and reliever Tyler Carpenter allowed five runs in four innings.
Gino D’Alessio delivered an RBI single for the Gems in the seventh, and Matt Schark delivered a three-run home run for the Gems in the top of the ninth.
D’Alessio and Dane Thomas had two hits each for the Gems (2-6).
