Adams County Sheriff’s Department ‘narrowing down’ suspect in string of car burglaries
QUINCY — Adams County Sheriff’s Department officials say they are close to identifying a suspect and making an arrest in a string of car burglaries last month.
Deputies responded to Knapheide Manufacturing, 1848 Westphalia Strasse, at approximately 2:50 a.m. May 25 after receiving a report of multiple vehicles on the parking lot being entered and property being taken.
Deputies responded to another call later that same morning from Manchester Tank, 3400 Wismann Lane, where the same type of activity was reported. Investigators noted approximately 15 to 20 vehicles had been entered between the two locations.
“We’re still working on the investigation, but I can tell you that it will intensify in the near future,” said Sam Smith, chief deputy for the Adams County Sheriff’s Department. “My investigative sergeant said that they’re in the process of narrowing down a suspect which can potentially lead to an arrest.”
Smith asked that people who have information about this crime or was a possible victim of this crime should call the non-emergency number for the sheriff’s department (217-277-2200).
