QUINCY — A 15-year-old boy is being held in the Adams County Juvenile Detention Center, but the Adams County State’s Attorney’s office wants him tried as an adult.

First Assistant State’s Attorney Todd Eyler appeared in court on behalf of the prosecution Friday afternoon as the teenage defendant made his first appearance in Juvenile Court.

Eyler said he would file a petition before the defendant’s next appearance, which is scheduled for March 9. Judge John Wooleyhan will rule on the prosecution’s Petition for Transfer Jurisdiction once he receives it.

The teenager is the prime suspect in the death of an elderly man found dead in a home in the Gross Gables subdivision on Quincy’s north side Thursday.

The suspect was apprehended in a home in the Third and Chestnut area.
