QUINCY — Chicago-based Hesco, Inc. has sold its assets to Area Distributors of Quincy.

Hesco has been in business since 1929, specializing in the sales of janitorial supplies and equipment with a national reputation for being an expert vacuum parts supplier.  Hesco’s inventory and equipment has been relocated to Quincy and eventually will lead to the creation of new jobs.

“I am delighted that Area Distributors has purchased Hesco. They will retain our high levels of customer service and our small-company culture,” said Rory Gurson, president of Hesco.  Gurson will retire once the ownership transition is completed.

“Having Hesco become part of the Area Distributors family is transformative for both companies,” said Jeff Rupert, vice president of Area Distributors. “Hesco has customers in all 50 states and even internationally.  The customer experience is excellent, with traditional customer service representatives and also a top-notch website for order entry.”

“Area Distributors’ customers will benefit by us adding thousands of items to our arsenal through this acquisition. Hesco’s customers will have the same benefit with the new items that Area Distributors brings to them,” said Ken Sparrow, CEO and GM of Area Distributors. “Our local inventory value now exceeds $1 million. Our company has more than 200 years of experience in the fields of janitorial supplies and equipment, restaurant supplies and equipment, packaging supplies and equipment, and office supplies and furniture.  In each category, we not only provide products but also technical service, often including design and installation.”

The Hesco name and website will carry on due to its strong recognition.
