Arrests made following shooting investigation
In February 2022, Officers of the Quincy Police Department assigned to the continuing
investigation of several recent shots fired incidents made the following arrests:
Nicholas A. Strieker, 24, of Quincy on charges of Burglary/ Possession of a Controlled Substance / Illinois Department of Corrections Parole Violation warrant.
The arrest of Strieker on 2/24/22 stems from an investigation of a burglary to a business
in Marceline, Il which occurred in September 2021, causing extensive damage to the business,
and resulting in the theft of US currency. Strieker was lodged in the Adams County Jail.
Zarious D. Smith – Palmer 19 of Quincy on charges of Armed Violence/ Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon /Possession of a Controlled Substance / unrelated warrant At approximately 8:20 on 2/27/22, Officers observed Smith – Palmer in a vehicle. Officers were previously aware of Smith – Palmer being wanted on a valid Adams County arrest warrant for Failure to Appear on Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
After observing a traffic violation, Officers conducted a stop at 5th & Maine. Smith – Palmer was taken into custody and during a search of his person, a loaded handgun was recovered. That handgun will be submitted for laboratory testing to determine if it may be connected to recent incidents. Smith – Palmer
was lodged in the Adams County Jail.
DuQuan A. Smiley 27 of Quincy on charges of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm.
Xavier H. Clark 19 of Quincy on charges of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm / Possession of Controlled Substance / Unrelated warrant.
The arrests of Smiley on 2/28/22 and Clark on 3/2/22, stem from an incident in August of
2021, which occurred at 5th & Locust St. in Quincy. The occupants of a vehicle report that the
vehicle they were in was shot at and struck multiple times by individuals in another vehicle. No
one inside the victim vehicle was struck. Shell casings were recovered at the scene. The ongoing
investigation into the recent shootings produced additional information into this incident, which
led to the arrests.
Both Smiley and Clark were lodged in the Adams County Jail.
The above arrests are not for charges stemming from the February shots fired incidents,
but are from information and evidence gained during the ongoing investigations into these cases.
