Blessing Health president, CEO announces intentions to retire in October 2023
QUINCY — Maureen Kahn, president and CEO of Blessing Health, will retire on Oct. 6, 2023. The announcement was made Friday morning in a press release by Timothy Koontz, chairman of Blessing Corporate Services Board of Trustees.
On behalf of fellow board members, Koontz thanked Kahn for her leadership during the past 22 years, including the last eight years as president and CEO of Blessing Health.
“Maureen has been a tireless and incredibly effective leader of Blessing for 22 years, benefiting the health system, our employees, our many patients and our community,” Koontz said in the release. “She has guided Blessing Hospital and the entire Health System through a period of growth and sustained excellence during her tenure. We wish Maureen the best in her well-deserved retirement.”
The Blessing Corporate Service Board intends to name Kahn’s replacement in “early 2023.”
Kahn was unavailable for an interview on Friday.
Kahn was named president and senior executive officer of Blessing Hospital on April 30, 2005, replacing Larry Swearingen. Before that, she had served as senior vice president/chief nursing officer at Blessing for four years. She became the president/chief executive officer of the Blessing Health System and Blessing Hospital in 2014.
Kahn began her career as a registered nurse in Philadelphia, earning a diploma from Frankford Hospital School of Nursing. She earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Gwynedd Mercy University in Gwynedd Valley, Pa., a master’s degree in health care administration from Hamilton University in Clinton, N.Y., and a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Phoenix. Kahn went on to hold various leadership positions in Philadelphia, New York and Boston.
