Pike County, Mo. – The Pike County Sheriff’s Office is still seeking information on the whereabouts of Nathan Mueller, 23, of Hannibal.

At around noon on Dec. 21, the Sheriff’s Office received a call of a vehicle parked in a resident’s drive near the intersection of Mo. routes C and E just west of Frankford. Deputies responded to the area and found the vehicle unsecured and fully operational with Muller’s wallet and clothes.

After speaking with family, it was learned that Nathan was last seen in Quincy at approximately
10 pm on Dec. 20 and he had left his phone in Quincy. He said he was going to go for a walk in the woods.

Nathan’s grandmother owns property near Frankford approximately a mile and a half from where the car was located and was known for enjoying walking the property. Additionally, it was reported to the Sheriff’s Office that Nathan had consumed some edibles that may have altered his perception.

On Dec. 21, the Sheriff’s Office received assistance from local law enforcement tracking dogs, a Missouri Highway Patrol aircraft, a drone from the Hannibal Police Department and a drone
from Dry Branch Drone Services. Additionally, residents in the area were contacted and sheds
and outbuildings were searched. Those efforts were not successful in locating Nathan.

On Dec. 22, the Sheriff’s Office along with members of the Frankford, Bowling Green, Louisiana, Buffalo and Clarksville Fire Departments returned to the area to conduct a ground grid search.

The results of that search were the locating of a head cover identified as belonging to Nathan,
as well as footprints believed to have been his.

On Dec. 26, the Sheriff’s Office along with special search and rescue dogs from Gateway Search Dogs and Search and Rescue K-9 CO-OP, both all-volunteer groups, covered approximately 100 plus acres of mostly wooded area. Additionally, a team from the Missouri State Highway Patrol water division responded to search a pond.

At this time foul play is not suspected. The next steps will include further searching of the area
with dogs.
