City of Quincy to pay to get back online

QUINCY — The City of Quincy will hold a news conference Tuesday morning to outline “emergency payments” to be made for “cyber security” and “cyber cryptocurrency and ransomware” negotiation services.

Mayor Mike Troup was absent from Monday’s Quincy City Council meeting, but after aldermen voted on two resolutions, Director of Administrative Services Jeff Mays said details would be provided Tuesday. Mays would not provide the amounts of the payments Monday night.

The resolutions:

  • Authorized Emergency Payment For Cyber Security Consulting Services.
  • Acknowledged Notification Of Emergency Purchases And Supporting Retention Of
    Mullen Coughlin, LLC, of Devon, Penn. and Kroll Associates, Inc. of New York for Information Security Services And Cyber Cryptocurrency And Ransomware Negotiation Services.

The news conference will be held in the City Council Chambers.

In other action, aldermen:

  • Again tabled the resolution to use the GOV HR report as guideline and scale for the administration to use for non-union employee reviews.
  • Approved the purchase of $28,931 of Radio Equipment from Gem Electronics.
  • Approved a bid by Miller Construction of $38,500 for demolition of 630 N.5th and 635
    Spruce Streets.
  • Heard the second reading to create the director of public works position.
