Downtown Quincy losing two restaurants
QUINCY – After Labor Day weekend, Quincy’s downtown district will have two fewer eating options.
Management of both Drake’s Steak & Ale and Que-Town BBQ are both closing their doors, each for their own reasons.
“We are extremely saddened to inform you, our loyal customers and the entire community of Quincy, that due to decisions completely out of our control, we will be closing our Drake’s Steak & Ale location in Quincy,” according to a Facebook post by restaurant management. “The Atrium Hotel on Third has decided to go in a different direction with their facility.”
Drake’s last day in Quincy will be Saturday, but owners will be reopening their Hannibal location soon. That 421 Clinic Road spot has been home to several establishments, starting as The Carriage House in the 1970’s.
Drake’s management also added “We are very sorry for the short notice, but the decision was just brought to our attention. Please know that closing our Quincy location was not even a thought prior to this news.”
Drake’s said they will honor any outstanding gift cards when the Hannibal location reopens.
Que-Town BBQ will also be closing “indefinitely” at the end of the week. Management said on Facebook “Due to the extreme volatility in our product markets our business is no longer able to serve you the best product at a fair price.”
Que-Town BBQ opened in the Quincy Town Center (formerly Quincy Mall) in 2018 before relocating to 120 South 10th during the COVID-19 pandemic.
