Fifteen arrests made Thursday during narcotics detail coordinated by Quincy Police Department

QUINCY — A narcotics detail aimed at targeting the possession and distribution of narcotics in Quincy and Adams County was conducted on Thursday, May 15, and led to the arrests of 15 people.

The Quincy Police Department, in a coordinated effort with the Illinois State Police, Adams County Sheriff’s Department, U.S. Marshal’s Service, Adams County State’s Attorney’s Office, U.S. Attorney’s Office (Springfield, Ill.) and West Central Illinois Task Force conducted a narcotics detail. The detail provided an increased number of police officers patrolling the city. During the detail, the following people were arrested. 

  • Christopher M. Arrington. 39, of Quincy for an Adams County warrant for criminal sexual assault, aggravated criminal sexual abuse and aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
  • Michael D. Cramsey, 47, of Quincy for an Adams County warrant for delivery of methamphetamine.
  • Corey R. Decker, 29, of Quincy for an Adams County warrant for possession of methamphetamine.
  • Brandon D. Austin, 37, of Quincy for an Adams County warrant for delivery of methamphetamine.
  • Shane M. Finley, 51, of Quincy for a federal probation violation warrant. 
  • John M. Garrett, 64, of Quincy for an Adams County warrant for methamphetamine delivery between 15 and 100 grams.
  • Timothy J. Gustison, 45, of Quincy for an Adams County warrant for possession of methamphetamine.
  • Shane T. Harrison, 50, of Quincy for an Adams County warrant for possession of methamphetamine.
  • Charles J. Scott, 51, of Quincy for a Marion County, Missouri, warrant for kidnapping.
  • Shawn D. Steele, 53, of Quincy for an Adams County warrant for delivery of methamphetamine between five and 15 grams.
  • James E. Thompson, 64, of Quincy for an Adams County warrant for delivery of controlled substance.
  • Jeremy W. Williams, 42, of Quincy for an Adams County warrant for possession of methamphetamine.
  • Courtny R. Mayfield, 26, of Hannibal, Mo., on a federal indictment for charges including distribution of more than 50 grams of methamphetamine.

Deputies with the Adams County Sheriff’s Department who were assigned to the narcotics detail conducted a traffic stop near Fifth and Maple. During a search of the vehicle, officers located a firearm and a large quantity of methamphetamine. 

As a result of the traffic stop, Destiny E. Shoop, 29, of Quincy was arrested for felon in possession of a weapon, possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine and armed violence. 

During the traffic stop, officers learned another person with an Illinois Department of Corrections warrant had just been inside the vehicle. Shortly thereafter, officers located Dartalyon A. Carson of East St. Louis and took him into custody. He was lodged in the Adams County Jail on charges of a felon in possession of a weapon, possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, armed violence and domestic battery.
