Fire destroys Hannibal church

HANNIBAL, Mo. — The Hannibal Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at the corner of Arch and Chestnut Tuesday morning. All stations responded and, upon arrival on scene, found heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof of the Hannibal True Church.

Additional off-duty firefighters were called in and conducted a defensive fire attack. HFD reports 27 firefighters were on scene for approximately six hours conducting fire suppression and overhaul. 

Additional assistance from the Hannibal Police Department, Marion County Ambulance, Marion County Sheriff’s Department, Hannibal Building Inspectors office, Hannibal Street Department, Hannibal Board of Public Works, Liberty Utilities & Salvation Army. 

The fire is under investigation.
