Four candidates to vie for Miss Adams County Fair queen during July 27 pageant

MENDON, Ill. — Four local women will take the stage in pursuit of the 2022 Miss Adams County Fair title on Wednesday, July 27.

All queen candidates have been working for more than a month in the areas of interview, speech and stage presence. The 2022 Little Miss and Mr. Adams County Pageant starts at 6 p.m., followed by the 2022 Miss Adams County Fair Queen Pageant at 7 p.m.  

The contestants vying for the 2022 title of Miss Adams County Fair Queen are:

Hannah Longlett, 20, is the daughter of Jeff and Tamra Longlett. She is a graduate of Liberty High School and attends Western Illinois University. Her sponsors are Tri-State Animal Wellness and Longlett Solutions.

Katelyn Hummel, 20, is the daughter of Mike and Susan Hummel. She is a graduate of Liberty High School and attends University of Illinois Springfield. Her sponsor is Concord Cabinets. 

Caylee Hughes, 18, is the daughter of Jeff and Diane Hughes. She is a graduate of Central High School in Camp Point and plans to attend Quincy University this fall. Her sponsor is Hughes General Contractor. 

Julia Hahn, 19, is the daughter of Jamie and Jodie Hahn. She is a graduate from Liberty High School and attends Maryville University in St. Louis. Her sponsor is 104 Collision Inc.

The reigning Miss Adams County is Jersey Hesse, 19, the daughter of Nicole Hesse, and Curt and Amanda Hesse of Ursa. She will be a sophomore this fall at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where she is studying agriculture communications with a minor in public relations. The sixth annual Sweetheart of Adams County Pageant also will be included during the event. It is a unique opportunity for people with intellectual or physical disabilities to experience being a queen or king for a day. The pageant gives people a chance to focus on their abilities and gain life skills, self-confidence and happiness. A pageant wardrobe is not necessary. Participants should wear what makes them feel special. Sponsors of the event are Eighth Avenue Villager and Overhead Door of Quincy.

Other Adams County Fair royalty will give up their titles at this year’s fair.  A special thank you to our 2021 retiring Miss Teen Adams County, Chloe Shaffer, the daughter of Curtis and Shannon Shaffer of Mendon; Junior Miss Adams County, Allison Lenane, the daughter of Greg and April Lenane of Quincy; Little Miss Adams County, Elsey Flesner, the daughter of Andrew and Casey Flesner of Golden; and  Little Mr. Adams County, Riggs Shaffer, son of Tyler and Ashley Shaffer of Loraine.
