QUINCY — Lisa Gasko is heading back to a familiar spot.

Gasko, the Quincy Township Assessor, was approved by the Adams County Board Tuesday night as the county’s new Supervisor of Assessments, replacing Georgene Zimmerman, who retired at the end of 2024 after more than 51 years with the county.

Gasko worked under Zimmerman for 20 years before leaving to replace Roy Points at Quincy Township Assessor following Points’ retirement in 2016. Township Assessor is an elected position.

County Board Chairman Bret Austin said Gasko’s appointment consists of a four year contract with an annual salary of $97,000. Austin said the salary was increased to be on the same level as other qualified supervisors across the state.

Because of the qualifications needed for the position, the candidate pool was limited.

“There’s not many of us that are qualified to do this,” Gasko said Tuesday night following her appointment. “Supervisor of Assessments is extremely limited, because there’s an exam that you have to pass. And thankfully, I did pass that exam. So I’m very fortunate, and I’m very excited to fulfill this role.

“It’s a privilege to work to try to fill Georgene’s shoes. I will do the very best that I can.”

The office of Supervisor of Assessments was created by state law to provide information to the Department of Revenue. The Supervisor’s office maintains records of total exempt properties and exemptions such as senior, veterans and model home exemptions, meets with township assessors to supply technical advice and information regarding current legislation and establishes guidelines for the assessors.

The Supervisor of Assessment’s office reviews assessments made by township assessors, equalizes assessments within the county, by township, and is responsible for the county’s equalized assessed valuation rate each year.

Gasko begins her new new post on Jan. 27. The Quincy Township Board will name a replacement, who will have to run for the position in 2027.

Josh Ayers is currently the deputy assessor for Quincy Township.
