Hannibal man arrested after two-hour standoff
HANNIBAL, Mo. — A Hannibal man wanted on a felony warrant was arrested Friday afternoon after a standoff with Hannibal Police.
Just after 11:40 a.m. Friday, officers with the Hannibal Police Department responded to an address in the 3600 block of Atoka. Officers had received information that Christopher L. McGruder, 39, of Hannibal, was inside a residence at this location.
McGruder was wanted on a felony warrant out of Lewis County, and it was believed he could be armed. Upon arrival, an HPD officer observed McGruder as he went back inside the residence. Officers then set up a perimeter around the residence. The Hannibal Special Response Team was activated, along with a negotiator.
After a two-hour standoff, the Hannibal Police negotiator made contact with McGruder, and he surrendered without further incident.
McGruder was transported to the Marion County Jail and is being held without bond on the following Lewis County charges:
- Unlawful Possession of a Firearm
- Harassment
- Unlawful Use of a Weapon
