HANNIBAL, Mo. — A Hannibal man was arrested Thursday in connection with the death of another Hannibal man on Wednesday night.

A warrant was issued Thursday in the 10th Judicial Circuit Court of Marion County charging Howard J. Rickey, 41, with assault in the first degree and resisting arrest for a felony.

Officers with the Hannibal Police Department were dispatched to the 1200 block of Lyon Street at 10 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25 for the report of an unresponsive male in the road. Officers arrived on the scene and initiated CPR until medical personnel arrived. The male was transported to Hannibal Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives with the Hannibal Police Department went to a residence on Darr Street early Thursday morning as part of their investigation. Upon arrival, detectives observed Rickey as he attempted to flee on foot. Officers apprehended Rickey and took him into custody without incident.
