Hannibal Police make arrest in fraud, theft cases
HANNIBAL, Mo. — A Hannibal man was arrested Sunday after multiple cases of items left in unlocked cars.
Caleb S. Nelson, 20, Hannibal, was charged three counts of Stealing and Fraudulent use of a credit device.
The charges are the result of an investigation that began Jan. 24 where multiple Hannibal citizens reported items had been taken from their unlocked vehicles during the early morning hours. On Jan. 25, officers learned one of the stolen credit devices had been used at a local business and identified Nelson as the suspect. He was located and taken into custody without incident.
Multiple stolen items were recovered in the residence where Nelson was arrested and the stolen property was returned to the owners.
Nelson remains in the Marion County Jail with bond set at $15,000. Hannibal Police say additional charges may follow.
